Teddy McHuggin Sets World Record

 

A 51-year-old Ohio man with the Valentine's Day spirit and a cause logged 7,777 hugs in 24 hours. Jeff Ondash, who hugs under the costumed alter ego Teddy McHuggin, broke the record outside the Paris Las Vegas hotel-casino. As his alter ego “Teddy McHuggin,” Jeff Ondash of Canfield, Ohio set a new world’s record for hugs on, appropriately enough, Valentine’s Day eve. Without stopping to eat or sleep, Ondash gave 7,777 hugs outside of a Vegas casino in a 24-hour period to establish the a new benchmark. (His daughter kept track with a manual counter.) Ondash easily outdistanced the previous record, which was a mere 5,000 hugs. And it’s all for a good cause: He’s raising money for the American Heart Association.
