An Iowa woman planted a few stalks of corn outside her cafe and one of these
stalks now has a whopping 27 ears on it.
Ilene Mittag of Mason City got a few foot-tall stalks back in
June from her husband’s grandfather, who farms in Minnesota.
She planted them in front of her business, the Wild Horse Western
Cafe, to give a little of a country feel to it and didn't think
anything of it until she noticed how many ears that one stalk
was producing.
Normal stalks of corn just have a few ears and there was one
stalk was documented having 14 ears but Ilene has almost doubled
that.
Ilene's other stalks of corn just have a few ears each and nothing
special was used on them besides some compost.
