Murderous Mary

On September 12, 1916 Mary the elephant freaked out and tossed
 a handler into a concession stand.  She then stomped the guy's head,
 crushing it "like a ripe melon."  She was hanged from a railroad
 derrick car the next day.  Here's the full story.
